What happens during EMDR therapy, does not (always) stay in EMDR therapy
For therapeutic settings, memory distortion(s) due to eye movements might not be an important question, because the main aim of therapy is to help the patient’s mental health. However, EMDR-therapists work with autobiographical memory. It is therefore important that they are aware of the reconstructive nature of memory.

Indeed and Without Doubt
It wasn’t until much later that DNA evidence recovered in 1992 would lead to the exoneration of both Brooks in 2001 and Brewer in 2008. This DNA belonged to Justin Albert Johnson, who confessed to both crimes but denied having bitten either girl. This statement is consistent with Dr. Souviron’s conclusion about the marks not being bitemarks as well. Rather, as it turns out, the marks found on the girls’ bodies were insect bites.

How Swiss Cheese can explain tragedies
Catastrophic events like the sinking of the MV Sewol call for an explanation and people tend to look for someone to blame. Blaming individuals is easy and emotionally satisfying. Yet, sometimes it helps to see the flaws of a system as a whole. It is necessary to acknowledge the danger of falling prey to hindsight bias when judging foreseeability and responsibility in retrospect.

Taking a chance with chances
The investigators’ line of reasoning was based on the assumption that for the bite marks on the body and the ones produced by Krone on the Styrofoam to match, they must come from the same source. The relationship between insight and violence in psychosis: implications for forensic practitioners
For forensic practitioners the propensity for individuals with psychosis to behave violently is a sensitive and much debated subject. Violent behaviour by a minority of individuals who experience psychosis is a poorly understood phenomenon that contributes to the stigma experienced by such persons.
